Hampshire Chess Individual Championship 1933.
Another tweak to the competition saw two sections of six players with the top two players moving to the final. At this stage I presume an all play all was completed.
In 1933, current champion. F.J.H.Elwell did not progress from the preliminaries, and therefore there was a new champion. This was Old Tauntonian W.J.Fry who would go on to win again in 1939 and 1951. Unfortunately there was not a record of the individual results, just the order of the final. In second place was Portsmouth player H.A.Way. Third and Fourth place was shared by Portsmouth's F.S.West and Southampton's H.Grover
