Whilst chess has been played in Hampshire for many years, there is not much detail on the players and events which have contributed to where we are now. This website’s aim is to close some of these gaps but does rely on current players passing information to me to include.
The main areas I am covering are the Hampshire Individual Chess Tournaments which commenced in 1930, other Chess Tournaments which were held in Hampshire, Hampshire County Matches (from 1887), Hampshire Chess League, Historic Hampshire Newsletters and profiles on Hampshire players which is a bit sparse at the moment, but I have been promised more from players!!
As a lot of the categories are work in progress, with posts being added when time allows, I suggest using the Search function for key words or players, the Categories and tags for similar posts and the various tables on the pages which link to articles e.g., Hampshire Individual Tournaments will have a link if the year has an article written on it, as does the County Matches page.
